While most still consider Windsor-Essex to be a manufacturing town, there are a lot of folks out there doing some very impressive work in the media field as well. Windsor-Essex is becoming home to quite a few growing companies that focus on content creation and media.

Red Piston is a company in the area that also has been making waves with its great Apps for smartphones. Formed in 2010 by Jakub Koter, Ali Aasm, and Andy Kale, they started off focusing on primarily iPhone OS, (now known as iOS), but have ventured into making Apps for Blackberry and Android OS as well. With Android growing the way it has been, it’s a smart road for them to take.

The three young men used to work in the advertising industry on interactive projects for a major car manufacturer. But when the car company recently ended its relationship with their ad agency — and their employer closed — they decided to do something they’d always dreamed of.
